Halcyon Denver Staycation

Before Steve went back to school for Web Development we decided to celebrate by doing a staycation at the Halcyon Denver in Cherry Creek. We knew that the months to come would be hard on the both of us since he would be nonstop going to school and studying so we both wanted a fun weekend together before we hardly got to spend any real time together. After comparing prices, location and each of their amenities I finally decided to go with Halcyon. It had everything we were looking for and was close to our apartment.

For some people the idea of a staycation doesn’t really make sense or is worth the money. Why pay to stay in a hotel in a city you already live in? Well, let me tell you friends…it is definitely worth the splurge. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a stay at a hotel if it is the right place. I wouldn’t recommend going to Denver’s finest Comfort Inn for a staycation if you know what I mean 🙂

About Halcyon Denver

The hotel has a great layout – everything you need is all there. There are entrances to two amazing restaurants in the lobby of the hotel, Quality Italian to the left and Departure to the right (you can also order room service from Departure.) They have complimentary coffee and wine at the front desk (ummm, yes please!) which was really nice while getting ready for the night. Steve just popped down to the front desk to grab us some wine while I was in the shower – so perfect! The Halcyon not only has everything you need right there but it is also located in the very popular Cherry Creek area. Walking distance from tons of restaurants, cocktail bars and shops. The overall experience is easy, enjoyable and fun.

Our Stay

King Corner Room

Our room was BEAUTIFUL – if whoever designed it could hook a girl up and decorate my apartment that would be lovely. The gold bathroom finishes were on point, the bed was insanely comfortable, the space was huge for a hotel room and the doors that opened up to the outside just made the overall vibe that much more enjoyable. I believe we booked what was called the King Corner Room, but I could be wrong about that. All I know is that it was spacious and comfortable with a huge bathroom, incredibly comfortable bed and modern couch/lounge area to watch TV.

Pool Time

They have a rooftop bar, pool and hot tub. with a beautiful view of Downtown Denver. So naturally, this is where we spent most of our time during the day. Right after we checked in we threw on our bathing suits and headed up to the rooftop to grab some grub, a drink and soaked up the sun.

Quality Italian

For dinner we tried Quality Italian for the first time, and let me tell you…the hype is definitely a thing for a reason. If you are on a budget this restaurant is definitely $$$ but it’s worth it on a special occasion! We ordered the Baked Lasagna with Filet Meatballs…I have no words to describe how good it was. Just trust me, you need to eat there at least once!

B&G Club

After dinner we went to a secret speakeasy that is located in Cherry Creek. I would give you the details on how to find it…but half the fun of going is figuring it out for yourself! All I will tell you is you have to make a reservation, once you do they send you the directions to a doorbell that you have to ring in order to get in – so much better than waiting in a long line to get into a crowded bar. The drinks were fantastic, the ambience is dark and moody, the music is on point and the bartenders polish off the experience. Definitely a place to find if you want to feel fancy for a night.

Breakfast in Bed

The next morning we decided to order room service before heading back to the pool. I will warn you, it’s easy to order too much food from their menu…everything sounds SO good. We ended up getting way too much but enjoyed every bite.

We LOVED our stay at the Halcyon, if you are looking for a weekend “getaway” we would highly recommend a staycation at the Halcyon! Wishing we had the time to go back for a weekend, maybe once Steve graduates 😉

Byeeeeeee.
